Executive Team

Karl Krokosinski has over 44 years of experience in financial services and is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), with 24 Top of the Table honors. As an Excalibur Knight of the Canadian MDRT Foundation and a former board member, he is a recognized industry leader. He specializes in estate and succession planning and has trained many professionals. Karl founded Customplan Financial Advisors Inc. and was a managing partner at Equinox Financial Group Inc. He has held leadership roles in a credit union and the West Vancouver Sunrise Rotary Club, promoting the ethos of “Paying it Forward.”

Myra Ekkel began her career in the Insurance Industry in 2002 after five years in hospitality. She joined Customplan Financial Advisors in 2003, starting in the back office at the Calgary location. Over four years, she progressed from Receptionist to Office Supervisor, guided by the Vancouver Management Team. In 2008, Myra took a one-year sabbatical to work and travel in Australasia, including a role as Executive Assistant at Baileys Commercial Real Estate in New Zealand. Upon returning to Canada in 2009, she rejoined Customplan. Over her 16-year tenure, Myra advanced through various roles, ultimately becoming Chief Operating Officer.

Samuel Raharjo joined Customplan in 2008 as both Marketing Director of Technology and an independent financial advisor. He believes that responsibly combining technology with financial literacy can create significant opportunities in the financial industry, especially with the upcoming intergenerational wealth transfer. His approach prioritizes family integrity and the smooth transition of wealth. Samuel is recognized for his connections within the international community and advocates that individuals and businesses should not only amass wealth but also contribute to society. He volunteers locally and internationally, currently serving as the financial liaison for the Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver and advising the ASEAN community there.

Allan McDonald a financial advisor and Marketing Director at Customplan Financial Advisors Inc. in Manitoba, entered the financial industry in February 2020 and joined Customplan in 2022. With a commitment to enhancing his clients’ financial literacy, Allan conducts workshops on budgeting and expense management. His expertise lies in assisting individuals, small businesses, and corporations with investment and insurance planning. Before becoming a financial advisor, Allan served in the military and has a trade background. On the weekends, he enjoys a round of golf and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training.

Dan Steinkey graduated with a finance degree from the University of Manitoba, he began his financial services career as an independent life insurance agent in Vancouver, covering clients in Manitoba and British Columbia. A year later, he joined Rice Financial in Brandon, Manitoba, gaining insights into client trust and professional integrity. Certified as a Financial Planner, he moved to Calgary, managing the branch and overseeing compliance, before returning to Manitoba to manage Rice Financial’s $1.8 billion term deposit and $2.0 billion mutual fund businesses. Later, at Equitable Life, he trained advisors but ultimately left to pursue his passion for guiding Canadians in financial planning.

Greg Miskiman, with over 18 years in financial services, serves as Managing Director, Alberta, at Customplan, where his experience and dedication have advanced him into a pivotal leadership role. Prior to joining Customplan in 2022, he excelled as an independent advisor with a top AM Best/S&P-rated company, known for exceeding expectations through exceptional client service and performance. As Managing Director, he mentors advisors and supports Alberta’s expansion, building strong partnerships and fostering advisor success. A Qualifying and Lifetime MDRT member, Greg holds memberships with IFB, Advocis, and FIC, and is a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging, enhancing his client-focused expertise.

Joseph Ven Der Buhs, originally from Saskatoon, has spent 25 years in Abbotsford, BC, and joined Customplan in 2019. As a Certified Financial Planner and MDRT qualifier, he is committed to helping clients and advisors exceed their goals through a blend of expertise and continuous improvement. Joe, a past president of the Advocis Vancouver Chapter and a GAMA representative, builds award-winning agencies and values education and collaboration. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing and family time in nature, along with volunteering and supporting charitable organizations.

Joseph Wagner began his financial services career in 2008 with Freedom 55 Financial and joined Customplan Financial Advisors in 2009, building a successful business focused on sound, risk-mitigated financial planning. Recently appointed Marketing Director for Customplan in Alberta, Joseph supports advisors in business growth and helps Canadians achieve financial goals. An advocate for continuous education, he’s served as Technology Chair on the Advocis Banff School committee since 2017. Joseph holds multiple designations, including CFP and Real Wealth Management, and recently completed the Canadian Securities Course with honors in 2023, exemplifying his commitment to excellence and industry advancement.

Leigh Grant’s passion, education and professional accomplishments support his mandate of providing superior client experiences. This is reflected in Leigh’s role as Marketing Director. Having attended UBC’s Sauder School of Business, Leigh’s proficiency in advising corporate clients was evident. He became a Technical Consultant to Fortune 500 companies (Walmart worldwide, Amazon, SpaceX, Mars Co…); thereafter, broadened his scope, and as a Corporate Regional Executive Manager, where he managed $100MM AUM. An award-winning Musical recording artist and musical composer for movie soundtracks, Leigh is accustomed to meeting and exceeding audiences’ high expectations. Though audiences have changed, Leigh continues to outperform, going above and beyond for clients and independent advisors.
